lemon tofu

quantities for 2 servings

ingredients


  • tofu: 250g
  • corn starch: 3 tablespoons
  • juice of 1/2 a lemon
  • soy sauce: 3 tablespoons
  • peanut oil

procedure


  1. tear the tofu in chunks.

  2. put the tofu chunks in a bowl with the cornstarch and mix them.

  3. warm the peanut oil in a pan: the oil is ready when, touching it with the handle of a wooden spoon, you see bubbles around it as if it were frying.

  4. fry the tofu until golden and crispy.

  5. while the tofu fries, prepare the lemon sauce: in the same bowl where you put the tofu and the cornstarch, put the lemon juice and the soy sauce (this way the cornstarch that remained in the bowl will serve as thickener for the sauce).

  6. dry the tofu from excess oil with paper towels.

  7. put the sauce in the pan at medium heat, add the tofu and mix well. the sauce will thicken almost immediately.

  8. serve with some veggies and rice, bread, pasta, or any other carb, and ejoy!

pilaf rice


  1. warm some extra-virgin olive oil in a small pot.

  2. add the rice and toast it for 1-2 minutes.

  3. add water, salt and pepper and cover till complete absorption. the ratio of rice and water and the cooking time varies according to the type of rice you use: for basmati rice the ratio is 1:1 and the cooking is 10 minutes.
